Vision
To assist faith communities in discovering and pursuing their own next steps towards welcoming LGBTQ people.
Mission
We create safe space for faith leaders to explore and identify what welcoming LGBTQ people could look like in their community.
Pastoral Posture on Sexuality, Gender, and Marriage
We recognize that there is a spectrum of belief among faithful Christians on many aspects of theology, including sexuality, gender, and marriage. We approach the theological perspectives of others with curiosity and respect.
Small Church Big Table does not attempt to steer or manipulate others toward a predetermined outcome, such as affirming, “Third Way,” or non-affirming positions. Instead, we create space for leaders and communities to wrestle faithfully, honor the authority of Scripture, and discern their next steps while remaining centered on Jesus.
Values
Safety - from past experiences we understand that these conversations can be emotionally intense and divisive so we seek to create judgment-free spaces for each leader to do their own processing.
Curiosity - we seek to create an environment where everyone can be both authentic and question themselves and others with honesty and graciousness.
Journey - we recognize that each of us and each of our communities has our own unique next steps in the journey with Jesus when it comes wrestling with the dynamics of LGBTQ questions.
Beliefs about God
We hold to the Apostle’s Creed as our statement of faith.*
We believe Christians are known best by loving God and loving others.

*The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
on the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic** Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
**that is, the church across all times and places
